I'm running LW 2024.1 on a mac latop with M1 chip - mac OS Sonoma 14.6.1 I have been able to see the background image in camera preview, but it doesn’t show in a composited version. The same is happening when I try to render with a background color. I tried changing the output to sRGB, but I don’t know if that’s the issue. It allows me to save out the background image or background color as a separated layer on output, but I usually like it pre-composited for final use so I don’t have to composite the layers in After Effects. I've used Lightwave on mac and windows since late nineties and Lightwave rendered the images with the background color or image as a standalone final image. I know you could do buffer exports in earlier versions also and have used that feature occasionally when needed.
